Had our first wedding and reception in the chapel last weekend.  Everything went well, all had a great time.  The couple was nice, and 30 of their family and friends enjoyed the afternoon.  They did have to dodge a few showers, but the rain was pretty kind.  

This week we have two receptions on Friday.  Odd that we would have two weddings on a Friday, and then both wanted receptions.  But we were thrilled for the business on a weekday.  This picture is the cake table that we used for the receptions.  Cake, punch, and mints come with the reception.  We handle everything.

Great Weekend

This last weekend was a busy one at the chapel.  Three weddings on Saturday, and a couple during the week.  What was enjoyable was that everyone was happy.  Sounds simple enough doesn't it, be happy at your wedding.  But it is amazing how many brides and grooms are not.  Maybe they are happy, just worried about everything else.  But, it is the start of the rest of your life with someone.  You should be thrilled, joyous, happy.  I think that sometimes we forget to enjoy the moment.  And it is a very important moment, enjoy it.

Today we need to clean the chapel for the weddings this weekend.  But before we get to Saturday we have a wedding tomorrow.  The wedding tomorrow is a bride and groom only package.  They are the easiest weddings, and often the most enjoyable wedding, that we do.  With just the bride and groom, and sometimes their two witnesses, everything is simple to take care of.  There is very little stress involved on their part, lot's of happiness.  It just seems that with the smaller weddings that the bride and groom are just focusing on the joy of being married.  There are few other concerns.  No family to take care of, no receptions, and they are already in the town of their honeymoon.  Most of the stress, if there is any, has already occurred.  They have arrived at their destination, gotten the wedding license, so all of that is behind them.  So when they get to the wedding, the wedding is all they have to focus on.  It provides them the opportunity to completely focus on each other, and their love.

That isn't to say that everyone of our weddings is a joyful occasion.  We are a small chapel, holding only 60 people, so none of our wedding parties are worried about a huge reception, or if all of their 200 guest have arrived.  This allows the stress level to be a little bit lower for the bride and groom.  Which I believe allows them to enjoy their day a little bit more.  It is their day after all.

After Thursdays wedding we get ready for two this weekend. One is another bride and groom, and the second one is a large group.  Have spoken to both couples and everyone seems ready for their big day.  We will be too.

Just trying to add another layer to our website.  Try to add a little personal touch so anyone can get a feel for the people behind the chapel.

We are a family ran business.  Two generations, with a little help from the third every now and then.  Jean and Ed McKenna first started the business with the purchase of the Chapel.  My wife Vicki helps with wedding cakes, and decorating for receptions, also is a witness when needed.  Our two youngest sometimes get to help with cleaning and decorating when needed.

Back to how we started, Mom and I were out of town on the day of the auction.  Dad really wanted the chapel, and went way over the price that had been determined before the sale.   (We are now thrilled that he did go over.)  The chapel has been a great business decision, and even a better personal decision.  The great people that we have met over the years has been wonderful.  From anxious brides, scared grooms, and thrilled parents.  Every wedding presents different opportunities, and different experiences.
